Key Ingredients
Vitamin C: Vitamin C has free radical scavenger effect which protects cell from reactive oxygen species (ROS) made by the body to control infections. It also may have anti-viral activity which may aid in symptoms of common cold because of ROS function on surface airways and lung epithelium. Vitamin C aids in improvement in both innate and adaptive immunity function. Its deficiency is associated with immune issues like impaired collagen synthesis for barriers, as well as impaired performance-increased free radical production. Recommended daily intake of vitamin C is 75-90 mg.
Vitamin D: Vitamin D is necessary for phagocytic activity, it limits inflammatory response promoted by specific T cell subtypes, as well as it promotes wound healing. Deficiency of vitamin D is associated with immune issues like decreased proliferation of B cells, and decreased immune globulin production. Also, a decrease in overall proliferation of T cells like TH1 cytokines decreased, and TH2 cytokines and T regulatory cells increased. It is recommended to naturally take vitamin D by exposure to the sunlight 5-30 min 2x per week. While taking it in supplements form of D2 (ergocalciferol) and D3 (cholecalciferol) you would need 600-800 UI. The replenishment would do a recommended of 1000-4000 IU.
Magnesium: Magnesium keeps the immune system strong, helps strengthen muscles and bones, and supports many body functions from cardiac functions to brain functions Magnesium Also contributes to a reduction of tiredness and fatigue. It contributes to electrolyte balance, normal energy-yielding metabolism, normal function of the nervous system.
Zinc: Zinc is needed for immune cell development and communication and plays an important role in inflammatory response.A deficiency of Zinc significantly affects your immune system’s ability to function properly, resulting in an increased risk of infection and disease, including pneumonia. What’s more, supplementing with zinc may be beneficial for those who are already sick.
Selenium: Selenium has free radicals reduction effects as it promotes production of limited reactive oxygen species (ROS) to fight infections. It also stimulates general immune responsiveness like T and B cell activation, as well as cytokine release. Deficiency is associated with immune issues like loss of free radical host defense, decreased white blood cell and NK cell function. Recommended daily intake is 20-55 ug/day.
N-Acetyl L-Cysteine: supports healthy mucus viscosity, which in turn helps maintain normal breathing patterns and supports healthy lung function.
Elderberry: Black elderberry (Sambucus nigra), which has long been used to treat infections it has been shown to enhance immune system response and may help shorten the duration and severity of colds, as well as reduce symptoms related to viral infections.
Turmeric Root Extract: Curcumin is the main active compound in turmeric. It has powerful anti-inflammatory properties, and studies indicate that it may help improve immune function
Quercetin: Quercetin belongs to a class of water-soluble plant pigments called flavonoids and can be found in onions, apples, green and black tea. Flavonoids have the ability to neutralise free radicals, converting them to be less reactive compounds therefore reducing their potential to harm cells. Quercetin is actually the most researched bioflavonoid used in human trials and scientists are very excited by its potential benefits to health. One of the most recent studies demonstrated its importance to cardiovascular health, but for more information on this fascinating nutrient, simply search it online. In addition to its antioxidant properties, it is also involved in inhibiting the production and release of histamines.
